Edmond R. Shinn, Esq.

Edmond is an aggressive, trial-ready attorney, who represents the developers, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers that are shaping today’s skyline. Edmond regularly counsels in-house attorneys and clients on ways to improve their proposals in order to gain leverage during contract negotiations. Clients rely on Edmond to document complex change orders, noticing delays and memorializing impacts. Edmond’s understanding of the project lifecycle and ability to document persuasively has resulted in millions of dollars in contract balance, retainage, and change orders recovered for his clients.

In 2018, Edmond was named a “Rising Star” attorney by Super Lawyer Magazine, which is awarded to the top 2.5% of attorneys under 40.

Recent victories include winning a bench trial in New York to secure a seven-figure recovery for a public works plumbing subcontractor, which included recovery of the client’s legal fees from the recalcitrant general contractor. Attorneys fees are rarely granted by the court and this decision is notable because Edmond successfully argued for the recovery under a relatively obscure state statute, elevating the importance of this case.

Edmond credits his success to the time he spent working alongside his father and growing up in the family roofing business. This developed into a tireless work ethic and desire to champion for the trades.

Edmond, who is a product of Malvern Prep, and graduated from Penn State as a Dean’s List student with a degree in Economics, and three trips to nationals with the  DII ice hockey team. Edmond was hired out of college to manage high-rise construction projects in Washington DC, preparing project documents, performing inspections, coordinating mechanical trades and managing schedule activities. This field experience was then parlayed into a job as a forensic analysts with an engineering firm in Philadelphia’s Mainline, where he analyzed construction delays and impacts for cases in active litigation.

At Villanova Law, Edmond excelled as a writer and was selected to Villanova’s Sports and Entertainment Law Journal. He also clerked at an international litigation law firm, focusing on complex construction losses and insurance subrogation.

Edmond is married to Lauren and lives in a house they built alongside a branch of the Wissahickon in Fort Washington. They have three daughters, Harper, Emersyn and Teagan. When Edmond is not working or with his family, he is either playing squash at Philadelphia Cricket Club, in a field somewhere with his bird dog, Hamilton, or fishing in Cape May aboard his family’s 26’ Regulator, “Untethered”.
